What the warehouse actually is

It is a working shop in North Hollywood with fabric racks, a cutting bench, tube stock in several diameters, motors on the shelf, and a test wall where every finished shade is run up and down before it goes in a van. Nothing about that is unusual for a manufacturer. What is unusual is a company that measures your windows also owning one.

Almost every shade company in Los Angeles is a dealer. They take your measurements, send them to a factory in another state, wait three or four weeks, and install what arrives. If it arrives wrong, the clock starts again.

Why that changes what we can promise

Because the bench is ours, the schedule is ours. A window measured on Monday can be a finished shade on Wednesday. A hem that is an eighth of an inch long is fixed this week. A fabric that looked right in the shop and wrong on your wall is re-cut instead of re-ordered.

It also means you are talking to the people who made the thing. The person who measures your windows works in the same building as the person who cuts the tube, which removes most of the ways a shade order goes wrong.

The other half of the business

MikeTech Services has spent 16 years doing home theater, security and automation work across Los Angeles. That is why our shades integrate properly with Control4, Crestron, Savant, ELAN, Alexa, Google, Siri and Home Assistant instead of arriving with a hub in a box and a wish of good luck.

We are also licensed for electrical work, which is why we can hardwire shade motors properly rather than routing a cable behind a curtain and hoping.

How we work

• We measure every opening ourselves. No customer-supplied measurements, because we carry the risk if they are wrong.
• We show fabric in your own light, on your own window, at the time of day the room matters.
• We quote per window in writing, and the quote is the price.
• We tell you the real date. If a fabric is special order and will take three weeks, we say three weeks.
• We do not leave a shade that does not run correctly.
